Cubesat INSPIRESAT-1 satellite
• The International Satellite Program in Research and Education’s (INSPIRE) INSPIRESat-1 CubeSat is prepared for Launch.
Keypoints:
- The Compact Ionosphere Probe on board this small research satellite will be used to study the earth’s ionosphere and will be launched into a low-earth orbit. The area of the atmosphere that is ionised by solar radiation is known as the ionosphere.
- CIP is a time-sharing all-in-one plasma sensor that use a single instrument to carry out several sensor tasks.
- It will also help us better understand why the Sun’s corona is much hotter than the photosphere, why many elements change when the Sun undergoes solar events, and how these events affect the ionosphere on Earth.
- An exponential change of plus or minus 1 in the value of a quantity or unit is defined as an order of magnitude.
- It will be launched on a future Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) of the Indian Space Research Organization and weigh less than 10 kg (ISRO). India’s third-generation launch vehicle is called the PSLV. It is a four-stage launch vehicle with the first and third stages utilising solid rocket motors and the second and fourth stages using liquid rocket engines, making it the first Indian launch vehicle with liquid stages.
Developed by:
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST INSPIRE), National Central University, Taiwan, Nanyang Technological University, and the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder in the United States In order to enhance space science and engineering, a group of institutions with active space programmes called INSPIRE was established.
The INSPIRE programme,
which consists of a series of INSPIRESats, from INSPIRESat-1 through INSPIRESat-7, envisions a constellation of earth and space-weather observation satellites. Cubesat It is a Nanosatellite, along with other Nanosatellites such as PocketQubes, TubeSats, Sun Cubes, ThinSats, etc. Nanosatellites are any satellites weighing less than 10 kilogrammes and are commonly used for technology demonstration and study.
